How I Can Help You
As a parent coach, I help parents by providing a safe, supportive, and confidential environment for parents to express their challenges and frustrations with parenting today.
I then help you deal effectively
with those challenges by
helping to brainstorm ideas, develop achievable goals,
and create an action plan to meet those goals.
I
will provide you with suggestions,
information, and sometimes a new way of looking at situations.
As we all know, all children are not the same. So what interventions
or parenting styles might work for one child in a family, may
not work for another. With Dynamic Parent Coaching, LLC and Lorna
Benton you get the benefit of my cumulative
years of experience and knowledge,
individually tailored to your family’s unique situation.
Easy Communication Style
As
an experienced child, adolescent,
and family therapist, I am
familiar with a myriad of common
and not-so-common child/adolescent
behavioral issues and parenting
challenges. With that experience
and knowledge, I coach you to
effectively manage and problem-solve
issues with your children,
all in a manner that is unique,
appropriate, and comfortable
to you. I have a diverse background,
including coaching education
and clinical education and
training, with a strong background
in attachment work. I have
hands on experience, which
gives me a more broad background
in which to be more helpful
with my clients.
While I am a straight talker, I also use a lot of compassion and humor in order to help you gain a clearer perspective on the situation.
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting® Classes
I offer parenting classes in Early
Childhood STEP® and STEP® Program, also
known as Systematic
Training for Effective
Parenting. STEP® is a developmentally specific
program that I offered
for parents of children
under six years of age
and school-age children
respectively.
"STEP® offers parents a realistic and
practical approach to meeting the challenges of raising children
today. It helps them learn effective and enjoyable ways to relate
to their children. It also helps them toward the goal parents want
most: to raise responsible children who will grow into responsible
men and women, capable of living meaningful, happy adult lives.
STEP® can help you become a better parent.
STEP® participants
work together in small discussion
groups. Parents become actively involved in discussing common concerns
and learning specific child-training ideas and skills.
The seven STEP® sessions
consider these topics:
1. Understanding Yourself and Your Child
2.
Understanding Beliefs and
Feelings
3. Encouraging Your Child
and Yourself
4. Listening and Talking
to Your Child
5. Helping Children Cooperate
6.
Discipline That Makes Sense
7.
Choosing Your Approach"
There are many parent education books and programs
in existence today. The
program I have found the most
success with is STEP®. In my opinion,
it gives the most well rounded approach to parenting. However,
parent coaching fine tunes your
parenting skills to your unique situation.
One of the unique components of the STEP® Program,
in comparison to other parenting
programs, is that STEP® looks
at the goals and the misbehavior
of children. Whether through
the parent education program
or through individual coaching,
I help parents identify their
child’s
goals of misbehavior then try
to find positive ways to address
those goals.

An extraordinary family
is within your reach!
